FAQ

How do you clean carpets?

Imperial Services utilizes the top three methods of carpet cleaning: Hot Water Extraction (steam), Dry Compound, and Spin Bonnet. In the residential market we use the Hot Water extraction method almost exclusively. Most carpet manufactured for the home environment requires hot water extraction to maintain its warranty. (Please check your warranty for specifics) Imperial can customize its cleaning to meet your needs and as a IICRC certified firm we can help you maintain your investment.

Will my carpet be wet when you are done?

We provide fast-drying carpet cleaning service to eliminate the many problems associated with carpet cleaning: delamination, slippery footing, new soil buildup, and bad odors. Imperial Services never soaks the carpet, and a clear water rinse is used to eliminate residues, leaving your carpets healthy, clean, and ready for continued use. Carpet typically dries in 2 - 24 hours, depending on the fiber type and ventilation.

What about all of these spots, are they extra?

No, the price of cleaning includes all the necessary steps to clean your carpet. Imperial Services begins with a thorough inspection identifying any potential concerns, then pre-conditions the carpeting with the appropriate enzyme or detergent, followed by a thorough rinsing and extraction and finally groomed. If the spot hasn't been removed after all of this it is considered a permanent stain. (See Below)

Is there a difference between a spot and a stain?

YES. The major difference between the two is that a spot can be removed and a stain can not. A spot is a discoloration on the fiber surface usually caused by some spill or residue left behind. A spot can become a stain when it is left for too long  or a chemical is added to it that permanently bonds it to the surface of the fiber. Sometimes, especially in the case of natural fibers, the soil can actually absorb into the heart of the fiber causing permanent discoloration.

What can be done about my stain?

There are several courses of action:

  1. A professional may try to use restorative procedures to chemically change the stain so it is no longer visible. These techniques use strong chemistry and can sometimes remove more color than desired. Essentially exchanging a dark stain for a light one.
  2. A professional could attempt to redye the affected area. This requires special skills in colormatching and chemistry and should only be attempted by a professional.
  3. Replace the affected area with a matching piece. Again you will want to contact a professional installer and will need a matching piece to replace it with.
  4. The last possibility would be to learn to live with the stain.
